The “Speicher”
80’s Bar Film Set
(part of the screenplay “Bis es mich gibt”)
This project was born from the idea of crafting a 1980s German bar set for the film "Bis es mich gibt". Collaborating closely with director Sabine Koder, the creative process unfolded after script analysis. The project encompassed a bar, dance floor, corridor, and dressing room, with pallets serving as the improvised stage medium. A clever architectural twist transformed an ordinary office into the artist's dressing room, allowing an entrance from the corridor. Precision dictated the corridor's narrowing to capture dramatic camera angles, enhancing the artist's entry. This venture provided a captivating exploration of architects' roles in set design. Through a materiality study, authenticity was instilled into the set. Amidst a rustic village backdrop, the bar radiated weathered charm, set in a basement ambiance with adorned brick walls, where peeling cladding and a collage of posters and pictures added character.
