Pair chair
Markt2 Schwaben macht sich: Stadtraummöbel
The brief of this project was to reuse an object given to recycle in combination with spruce wooden planks to create urban furniture for the locals in Markt Schwaben. Each group was given a maximum of 18 wooden planks (each of 5 m) and an object. As a group we received three grids we had to use for designing a seating element. We opted for a dual modular chair for privacy and flexibility. Construction steps are as following: cutting the rounded piece in half since we had 2 identical flat pieces. With the use of the frame wooden construction method we were able to stabilize the chair easier. After the frame construction was done, the grid elements were fixed. The curved back resting area was fixed with piece of fabric. Ultimately, the sides of the chair were battened, leaving a free area for storage. It gives many seating possibilities varying from the relationship with the other person to the activity(as seen in the pictures). Working with wood taught me to design better.
